Affordable, Quality Childcare Starts Here!
At Explorers Day Nursery, we’re committed to making high-quality childcare accessible for every family.
Here’s a simple guide to help you make the most of available funding options.

Tax-Free Childcare
Save up to £2,000 per child. If you and (where applicable) your partner work and earn between the minimum required (around 16 hours at the National Minimum/Living Wage) and under £100,000 each, you may be eligible for a Tax-Free Childcare account.
For every £8 you pay in, the government adds £2 - up to £2,000 per child per year (or £4,000 if disabled). This scheme covers children aged 0-11 (or up to 16 if disabled).
Please note: You can’t use Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as receiving Tax Credits or Universal Credit.

Free (Funded) Childcare Hours
In England, the government provides free early education and childcare for eligible families:
3 and 4-year-olds: 15 hours per week for 38 weeks a year.
Working parents: Up to 30 hours per week for children aged 9 months to school age (from Sept 2025).
2-year-olds (families receiving support): 15 hours per week for 38 weeks.
Help Through Universal Credit
If you’re working and claiming Universal Credit, you may get up to 85% of your childcare costs covered, subject to individual circumstances and cost limits.
Please check with your provider or local authority for the latest eligibility and local arrangements, as schemes continue to expand.
